WHAT DOES FREEDOM MEAN TO ME?

WHAT DOES FREEDOM MEAN TO ME?

Freedom for me is the ability to be yourself, to do what you want to do, to say what you want to.

A great example is the reason why I am writing this article. When a city, a town or a country gets taken over, the things you can do are limited… You have to live like a person from the enemy’s country. They try to make you different.

That’s exactly why freedom is so important! Imagine speaking a different language. There would no longer be Lithuania or wherever you live. That makes you a different person! That isn’t fair! Because you weren’t asking anyone for a “makeover”, you didn’t want anything to change!

Freedom lets you live, experience things YOUR way, not the way someone wants you to. And technically you are still you, but you actually belong to someone.

Something like this expression:

Vilnius is ours, but we are Russia‘s .

I guess what I am trying to say is that freedom is us. There wouldn‘t be us if there weren‘t freedom.

So again, what DOES freedom mean to me?

MYSELF, freedom to me means me. Like a math equation…

Freedom = me.

That’s me, my achievements, my possibilities, my life.

Which would be the explanation to this whole article… Freedom. Equals. Me.

“Paper Towns” Film Review. By Juta Kvederaitė

“Get Lost. Get Found.”

“Paper Towns” is based on the bestselling novel by author John Green, is about two teenagers, Quentin , (played by Nat Wolff) and his next door neighbor Margo (played by Cara Delevingne), who loved mysteries so much she became one. After taking Ouentin on a tour of the city, Margo suddenly dissapears – but leaves clues for him to find her. The love struck boy with the help of his cheerful friends go on an adventure, soon to understand true friendship – true love.

The genre of the movie is drama, mystery and romance. I am definitely not the type to pick a romance film during a movie night, but since this was a JONH GREEN’S movie I thought i would check it out. I didn’t feel like I need to take my time back, actually I felt quite the opposite – I rewatched it. It’s super gripping – the actors did a wonderful job, considering this was Cara’s first lead role in the movie, the soundtrack made my ears cry of the wonderful sounds. What I really loved is that there was no special effects used, actors did their own stunts (Nat needed to pass his driving test, while Cara needed to climb trees and get to the house roof, etc).

Overall, I would definitely recommend the movie to everyone- my mom, my friends, a stranger-no that’s too weird… anyway. This film is very moving, there are many deep quotes, once I finished watching it I was left with many different emotions – happiness, sadness, calm, angry. It made me think about what do I want to be, what do I want to do, figure myself out. What secrets do we, each person, hold? You would think, that Margo ran away for some stupid idea, and hate her because she left Quentin hanging, without a note for her parents.. But You soon understand that is not the case.

6.5\10 for IMDb ratings, 51% out of 100% from Rotten Tomatoes.

Margo: Everything’s uglier up close.

Quentin: Not you.

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. By Vėjas and Gerda 5a

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a very heart warming story about a horse

who gets kidnapped by evil men and he tries to escape and go back to his family. The visuals in this movie are very great, beautiful andrealistic. The movie is really great and it reminds us that we have freedom and we should be happy about it. We think that the movie is very beautiful and it’s a good story told plus the music and acting are great. The movie was released in 2002 by “Dream Works Animation“. Here are some of the voice actors: Matt Damon as spirit, James Cromwell as the Colonel, Daniel Studi as Little Creek. The ending is happy so we don‘t have to cry. Did you like the movie? Write your opinion. What does the animation teach us? 😳

A Review of Middle School: the Worst Years of My Life. By Tomas 7B

About a couple of days ago I watched: ‘Middle School: the Worst Years of My Life’ on my computer. It’s an animated comedy. The movie stars are Griffin Cluck aka (Rafe Khatchadorian) and Thomas Barbusca aka (Leo).

It’s a story about two brothers – Rafe and Leo (Leo is dead but Rafe imagines him as his best friend). Rafe has a notebook in which he draws everything that he imagines. Rafe was kicked out of couple of school’s due to his bad behavior and was told that if he gets kicked out of one more school he will never be able to go to any other public school. When he came to the new school he noticed that it was very strict (which didn’t really matter at the time) but as time goes by things start to get worse. He makes a huge mistake by drawing in his notebook when he really should have not been. The principle sees that he is drawing ant takes away his notebook and throws it into acid! And as Rafe being Rafe, he decides to break every single rule in the school. And so the journey BEGAN!

The characters of Rafe and Leo are interesting because if they have a goal they will achieve it at any cost. Also Rafe doesn’t have any problems making new friends.

In my opinion this is a gripping movie although it’s a comedy. The special effects are absolutely sensational. However, the best thing is acting. Overall it’s a very enjoyable movie.

5 Ways How to Make Your Presentation Better. By Vaida Rašimaitė

At least one time in your life you had to make a presentation. But was your presentation successful? From my own experience I can clearly say the first time for almost all students is unlucky. So, to prevent the mistake which is usually made by students I want to share five tips which help me make a good presentation.

Firstly, you need to prepare for it carefully. It is not enough to give one hour or two for the preparation. You need to take more than half a day. To check it very attentively three, four or even five times to avoid mistakes of grammar, spelling and even to check pronunciation of the words unknown for you.

Secondly, know your audience. You need to make sure you know who you will be presenting to. If you do not know who your audience is you cannot explain your topic the best.

What is more, you need to have clear points.Try to prepare not too many points to talk and find as much information as you need. When you are presenting in front of people you usually feel stressed and get nervous, so you might not have enough time to develop all the points you had prepared.

Fourthly, do not depend on visuals too much.Try to use power point only to show some pictures or the most important things you are talking about. Do not write too much text as it will help you to prevent reading the material from the slides, which is considered to be a sigh of insufficient preparation

And last but not least, you need to have honest feedback.Try to record yourself and listen to how your voice sounds or see what you do too often, e.g. maybe you do useless movements with your hands, and try to avoid them. Also, ask your sisters, brothers or maybe even parents to listen to your presentation and ask what they think about it.

To sum up, you just need to develop your topic, know your public, deliver the points clearly, not rely on with visuals too much and try to believe in yourself. I hope these five tips will help you to make the best presentation ever 😉

Do you have any tips?
