WHAT DOES FREEDOM MEAN TO ME?

Freedom for me is the ability to be yourself, to do what you want to do, to say what you want to.

A great example is the reason why I am writing this article. When a city, a town or a country gets taken over, the things you can do are limited… You have to live like a person from the enemy’s country. They try to make you different.

That’s exactly why freedom is so important! Imagine speaking a different language. There would no longer be Lithuania or wherever you live. That makes you a different person! That isn’t fair! Because you weren’t asking anyone for a “makeover”, you didn’t want anything to change!

Freedom lets you live, experience things YOUR way, not the way someone wants you to. And technically you are still you, but you actually belong to someone.

Something like this expression:

Vilnius is ours, but we are Russia‘s .

I guess what I am trying to say is that freedom is us. There wouldn‘t be us if there weren‘t freedom.

So again, what DOES freedom mean to me?

MYSELF, freedom to me means me. Like a math equation…

Freedom = me.

That’s me, my achievements, my possibilities, my life.

Which would be the explanation to this whole article… Freedom. Equals. Me.

    In real world freedom doesn’t exist none of us are really free. For example, if u live among other people u will never have freedom. There is only 1 place where u can be truly free its in your mind 🙂
    “Freedom for me is the ability to be yourself, to do what you want to do, to say what you want to” yeah if YOU do and say what you really want there is a possibility to be locked up killed or even worse, your attitude may not always be convenient, so yeah we have to follow the rules and rules sometimes restrict real freedom so we are not free.. welcome to the real world 🙂

    Great essay, Liepa! I believe that everyone has freedom inside, we need to find our own path to walk, think, live, love etc. Every day is an experience that moves us a bit further, thx for your thoughts. Good luck:)
