Tropical Islands. By Medeina 5A

A Tropical sea, sandy beach and palm trees just 60km. from Germany capital Berlin. 1035km or 11 hours by car from Vilnius, Lithuania. Tropical Islands is one of the most famous and best known water parks in Germany and Europe.

In Tropical Islands you can swim, dive or just relax in the worlds largest indoor rain forest or come down on Germany’s highest water slide town. This is not only a water park, but you can find a hotel, sports club, amazing and great place to relax.

No problem if you get hungry there are six restaurants, five bars, some sweets shops and one food market.

The size of the park is about 10000m2 and the outdoor size of the park is about 35000m2.

I was there and I really enjoyed it. I hope one day I come back in this place. If you go to Germany I really recommend to visit Tropical Islands place! 🙄

Special Spring Festival. By Ugnė Tamulionytė 5A

Mother’s day – is a festival which is celebrated all around the world. We celebrate it on the first Sunday of May together with such countries as Hungary, Spain, Portugal and Mozambique. On this special day all mothers around the world are honored by attention, kindness, and special presents of their children.

Generally in most countries Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

According to historical documents we could say that the first country which began to celebrate Mother’s Day was England (around 17 century). In such old times children from poor families had to be sent to rich farmers in order to work hard and to earn money for their families. They could come back only once a year. Usually it was around the Easter. And then they could bring some flowers for their mothers from the fields on their way home.

Nowadays the situation has changed. Every country has its own different traditions. For example, it’s very popular to celebrate Mother’s Day in Australia, Canada and USA . Children make presents, flowers, cards on theirs own as an individual hand made gifts. And it’s as popular as Christmas or Valentines Day. In India it is a tradition to let the children make the best dishes for their mothers. In New Zealand families go to the restaurants and show their special attention to their mothers all day. In South Africa children give flowers not only for their mothers, but also for grandmothers.

I like May, because it is full of aromatic flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils, lilies of the valley, jasmines, tulips …

And I have a question for YOU: do you know what is your mother’s favorite flower??? :))

This is my mother’s best photo of spring blossom…

Eurovision is also known as ESC. By Vasarė Kamarauskaitė 8A

Eurovision is a song contest. The competition was based upon the existing Sanremo Music Festivaheld in Italy since 1951. It is the longest-running annual international TV song competition, held, primarily, among the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union since 1956. Every country who participates in the ESC has to perform a brand new song on live television.

The other countries who also participate have to decide which song and performance was the best. The contest has been broadcasted every year for sixty-two years, since it’s inauguration in 1956, and is one of the longest-running television programmes in the world. It is also one of the most watched non-sporting events in the world.

Winning the Eurovision Song Contest provides a good career in the future. Here are some famous winners of the Eurovision: ABBA (winner in 1974 for Sweden), Bucks Fizz (winner in 1981 for the United Kingdom) and Céline Dion (winner in 1988 for Switzerland), all of whom launched successful worldwide careers after their wins.

The Eurovision 2017 song contest was the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Kiev, Ukraine, following Ukraine’s victory at the 2016 contest in Stockholm with the song “1944”, written and performed by Jamala.

This year (2017) the winner was Portugal with the song “Amarpelosdois” (Loving For The Both of Us), performed by Salvador Sobral, A lot of people say, that it was chosen not because of the visual effect, but because of the song. And personally, I really love it.

My creative milestones of 2017. By Martynas Jakucevičius

Greetings. During this year I, Martynas Jakucevičius, have reached this sort of a milestone in different forms of creativity including music, poetry and fiction.

There are a few music genres that I work on. They are hip hop/rap and dark ambient. My ultimate goal is to achieve the complete synergy between these two genres and combine them into one so that the sounds of the genres would compliment but not hinder each other. Dark ambient (in the 1980s also referred to as ambient industrial or black ambient) is a genre of post-industrial music that features foreboding, ominous, or discordant overtones, some of which were heavily inspired by elements of ambient music. Often causing negative emotion in the listener. It is a genre that is usually misunderstood by people. A lot of people don`t even consider dark ambient as a music genre at all. Dark ambient is often used in horror movies to create that right atmosphere that makes horror movies scary.

I released a dark ambient mix this year

And with poetry it seems at least to me that I am improving which in itself is nice and a rewarding feeling. Here are my newest poems:

I remember
The black/white forests
I remember
The memories I hold dearest

And the time`s entropy
That sweeps them away
Such is all o`ours enemy
But none is immune
To sweet sweet decay

Decay of heart
Decay of spirit
Decay of body

Archway so dark
Betray the gimmick
Dismayed and bloody

Religious or cynic
Rich or poor
Healthy or in clinic
Guilty or pure

All face the same entropy
That sweet sweet decay
Oblivion enters me I await my doomsday

Universal being

I wander the decayed lands of yours
And so I wonder who am I
For I know who you are

For you are everything that is dear to me
Close to me, you are life, death
The sun, the moon and the stars
The mountains in the earth
The air in my chest

The endless waves of bottomless sea
The forests, the jungles, all beings
Including me, but what part of me
Only belongs to me
What is that part

Who am I, answer me
I question all of this
I witness the decay, the death and rebirth
Of life around, the land around

I place my feet in the sands
Stand still, I feel the wind
On my face as I grow old and decay

Forever blue
Forever young

Forever cruel
‘Again got stung!’

Oh the yonder
I still ponder

What lies under
The great beyond

Not behind it
Not above it

Nor the left
Nor right, in front it

But question is
A different one

Why don`t I go for the sun?
No, that would be mad

And truly sad
Remember Icarus?
That poor, poor lad

Sun is too far
For mighty legs of mine

And skinny hands
Don`t like to spar

I decline
I can`t go far

But still the wonder
As it is

For time is short
Remember this

And when your legs
Become so weak

Kick the bucket
And go to sleep

Explore the great beyond
And more

Forever young
Forever more

Forever calls

Forever`s lore

I am on the edge of dying
Drinking, thinking about my sins
I look up, Orion`s belt

Trapped in a cage of lions
People`s emperors are burning in kilns
I`ll hang on Orion`s belt

That’s not what I was told, the liars
Living in small tins
Orion opens his arms

In a welcoming embrace
Embraced by dark star gods
I figured, humans are pawns
But now, I am among the gods
Life shifts away when the belt is tightened…
Life shifts away while the belt is tightened…

Legacy of Naught

When my soul leaves my body
You will cry from time to time
When my heart stops beating
We will go back in time

Where my heart beats again
Until my final moment
Reliving every memory
Again and again
Until you`ll move on
And the memory disappears
In the wind like dust
In a gust of wind
Part after part is forgotten
Oblivion is calling
Chilling oblivion
Dominion of the lost
Hegemony of the forgotten

My soul leaves my body
Cry from time to time
My heart stopped beating
Go back in time

To be continued… 😉

Young&Talented Writers’ Club Presents Martynas Jakucevičius and his Novel/Sneak Peak

Recently I started writing fiction. It might not be perfect or something special but to me it is a milestone. The point when you decide to write and you actually are writing is a huge step in my opinion. Here is a ‘sneak peak’ of my work:

In the year of 1374 on the darkest day of the year. A day of stark and ominous nature. Full of horrors and morbid creatures of the unnatural. A full, white moon was reflecting the false light unto the lands of an isle in the Baltic sea. The island was large in size. Old, ruined, lifeless castles, towers and villages loom the land. Countless ages have past until man refound the isle. And so, on this night a group of German knights lead by Lord Toten Wulfenburg, an exiled noble of the Holy Roman Empire who was excommunicated for sodomy and hedonism. While in truth, his ambitions got the better of him and during a failed coup he ran away with a group of loyal knights and followers. Wulfenburg was large and burly – bull of a man with long blonde hair, striking sky-blue tired eyes and a dishevelled beard. The exile was hard on him. Few injuries here and there, a walking stick reflects the injuries of a leg. His appearance has definitely seen better days. Tattered ta bard and cloak, dented and dirty armor. His sheath hides the chipped, blunt sword and blood-stained blade. His followers and companions fared a lot worse. One of the knights got his hand severed. A makeshift bandage hides the ugly stump. The other got blinded by a man-at-arms in a small skirmish with a royal patrol – the emperor`s men. Most of them bore minimal injuries. While a common soldier might have abandoned their feudal during such dark and hard times, but these men are loyal men – knights, squires and servants and even some of the ladies. Exiled as they may be they still follow their doomed lord. Lord of the homeless, the exiled, the forgotten, the forsaken, the pariah. During a huge raid of a small port city on the coast of a Baltic sea the exiles managed to commandeer two small merchant ships and a huge supply of food, cloth, general goods and precious metals. They took to the sea. The pagan sea. While the Scandinavian lands to the north have been united with the Christendom and while the Baltic coast to the east is controlled by the Teutonic order there is still something ominous and doom-filling about the sea. Lord Walsenburg and the exiles sailed the calm sea for three days until they came upon the ISLE. The landing was chaotic and panic filled. In a small amount of time the servants and knights erected makeshift tents. The isle gives off a dark and atmosphere and the lord feels it. The isle itself is not charted on the merchant maps. The exiled lord sees an opportunity to disappear from the Christian world by settling the isle. Still staying in one of the ships he look over the isle. Right then one of the knights – the one with a stumped hand, comes to the lord and asks: “What are your orders, lord? We have unencumbered both of the ships. If I may ask…” ” you may” the lord answers. “Are we going to stay on this isle? I noticed that the isle is unsettled by people as far as I can tell. I have dispatched a couple of squires to scour the isle. My thoughts are that we should find a suitable place and set a more permanent encampment there.” The lord remains silent. Thousands of thoughts flood the mind. Something summons him, calls him, teases him to go forth, to explore, to find the source, the summoner. Toten descends the ship unto the soil of the beach. ” It needs name.” He whispers and ventures forth toward the camp.

1) Why do people try to avoid darker, more real or bad things, problems, themes?
2) Why it is hard for some people to share their creative works? Is it fear of criticism?
3) If you had to create a poem or a song would you make it dark, bright? Why?

Advertising an event or a place. Example: “Teenager sports camp”. By Antanas Vaičekauskas 6D

The camp is in the big field away from the city so there is no noise around. The camp is in Utena.

The camp has best conditions for sport. The camp has 2 swimming pools. One is for real swimming and another one is for relaxed and chill swimming. We have a working gym the whole day from 6.00 in the morning to 22.00 in the evening.

The winner gets a prize. The prize is that you can sleep longer and don’t do stretches in the morning!

We eat breakfast in the morning at 9.00. Lunch at 13.00 and dinner at 18.00. The food is the best quality. We have snacks bar working everyday so you can be full the whole day. Sometimes on Fridays we eat pizza too!

Imaginary situations: “If I were….I would”. Second Conditional: “Problem – Solution” Essay Examples

On the one hand considering the number of people disliking this town it gets scary, but on the other hand, I don`t think it`s too bad. Of course there are some problems. And these are a few things that I would change. Firstly, I would build some bicycle tracks. Secondly, people should start recycling more. And thirdly, I would take into account what people are suggesting, because they matter.

If I were the mayor I would build some bicycle tracks so people could go to work, school or any other place of their choice by bicycle, that way we could be reducing the amount of cars and pollution at the same time. Secondly, I would provide people with four different rubbish bins so everyone could recycle their stuff easier. Thirdly, I would encourage citizens to say what they think is best for our town and its surroundings.

I think all of these things would make a big, positive impact on my town. In my opinion, the most important thing to do is to force people to recycle, because it`s not only good for us, but it also benefits the environment a lot.

Kristupas Čeika

My town is a great place to live, but there are a few problems here too. Firstly, there is too much noise in the town center. Secondly, some of the shops don’t have enough cheap products for people. And thirdly, there are a lot of violent crimes here.

If we could make a difference, we would ban cars from the town center, and force people to cycle more.

Secondly, We would create an event to collect money. In this event people should dress up in dog costumes and share chocolate with others. The money from this event would sponsor shops, so they could buy more products in bulk and sell them cheaper so people would be happier and also shops would make more profit.

Thirdly, to make the streets safer, we would encourage people to report about the crimes they saw.

We think, if we changed these things people would lead safer and happier lives.

Kotryna Kutkauskaitė and Deimantė Mačiulytė

My town is a great place to live, but there are a few problems too. So firstly, the air quality in here isn‘t good enough. Secondly, there is a lot of litter in woods, parks, town streets even in the town center. And thirdly, there are a lot of unemployed people.

If I were a mayor, to reduce air pollution, I would encourage people to cycle or walk more, it would be better for the town and for the people‘s health. To make the town cleaner, I would encourage people to sort their trash, also I would make it illegal to drop litter in the streets, parks or somewhere else, and I would provide more rubbish bins. To reduce the number of people with unemployment, I think, I would pass a law to provide everyone with a job or some kind of occupation, where they’d get a place to live in. I believe that it would reduce homelessness.

In my opinion, these actions would improve life in my town. But if I could only do one thing, I would reduce air pollution. Fresh air improves everybody‘s health and it benefits nature too. LET’S TAKE CARE OF OUR PLANET 😉

Invented story “The mouse race”. By Antanas Vaičekauskas

One day a guy called Jonas saw 2 mice running next to each other and it looked like they were racing. So he thought – “I want to have a mouse race!”

He started planning the rules. He called one of his friends and asked for help making the rules and he accepted it as a joke. Two days later they finished the rules:

  • Mouse has to be nice and not angry
  • Mouse can’t attack other competitors
  • Don’t touch or do something to the competitor’s mouse or you

and your mouse is going to be disqualified

  • If you lose don’t be mad and have fun

2 weeks later they organized the event. A lot of people came to watch but not many to compete. Later people started to come more and more and just like that it became a beautiful  tradition!

Golf on Ice. By Matas Tijūnonis and Justas Ringelevičius

About „Golf on ice“

Golf on ice – a name tells you almost everything. It‘s a sport, where you need to play golf on ice. Nowadays it‘s called „Ice hockey“. We will talk about it later. Now, rules: every spring lots of people arrive to one place at the lake. People need to have golf sticks with them. Then, everyone starts by shooting down the ball. And that‘s it. Sounds pretty easy, but you can improve or change the rules yourself.

How it was created?

Someone called it like this, when one good golf player, accidentally threw a ball into a frozen lake. That ball was special to him, so he tried to catch it, but he slipped and slipped, and slipped. And then he thought to use his golf stick, because the ball was a little bit too far. He did manage to reach it and then he struck the ball. And he did it over and over, and it was fun for him. Some people saw everything, and wanted to join the game too. And they thought about the name „Golf on ice“.

End, but not really of „Golf on ice“

Well, about 150 years later, other people thought about „ice hockey“. It‘s seemed to be better than „golf on ice“. That‘s how it ended. But some people still play it, because they still like it. For some families it‘s an annual tradition. But maybe later it will be more popular once more. Would you like to try this sport out in winter? 😉 💡
