Do you agree that social media has a bad influence on consumer buying habits?
As smartphones got more evolved, new social media platforms were found and since then human purchasing habits have changed tremendously. The convenience of online shops is undoubted but the impact on consumer‘s finance is questionable. I will present how our decisions are influenced in both positive and negative ways by the network.
On the one hand, such platforms as „Instagram“ or „YouTube“ are ideal places for retailers to promote their products. Thousands of sponsors and celebrity endorsements are made each day without our realization. Hearing amazing aims and compliments about the quality makes that product more appealing instantly. Such a strategy leads to purchasing a great deal of unnecessary stuff that we do not end up either using or consuming. Not only it is easy to develop a hoarding addiction and transform your living space into a clutter but also you will unconsciously spend an enormous amount of money.
On another hand, there are plenty of reviews of a particular product online. Some you tubers and bloggers (representatives of a contemporary profession) make videos or write articles about the benefits and drawbacks of the things you can buy in stores or via the internet. By doing research you can not only save your money but also find dupes if you are on a budget and looking for something that fits your wallet. It might be time-consuming at first but definitely worth it in the end.
In conclusion, our shopping habits have changed drastically but not only for the worse. As some people amass mountains of junk others are more considerate about their choices.
